Who We Are...
Hostelling International-USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit membership organization founded in 1934 to promote international understanding of the world and its people through hostelling. The Eastern New England Council (ENEC) is the chartered regional council of Hostelling International - USA, Inc.
ENEC operates a year round hostel in Boston, and 5 seasonal hostels in Boston, Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard that that are inexpensive, safe,clean and are open to both individuals and groups, regardless of age. Hostels range from urban buildings with hundreds of beds to small hostels in rural settings.
What is Hostelling...
Remember how you felt the first time you traveled abroad or journeyed to a different part of the U.S? You were probably excited. Energized. Maybe a little bit scared. The fact is, when we're exposed to new people and cultures different from our own, we change in ways that impact us for the rest of our lives.
Hostelling is a special kind of travel. Unlike hotels that tend to be isolating and often generic in what they offer, hostels foster meaningful, affordable travel. At Hostelling International-USA we give people the chance to have life-changing experiences through travel using our hostels and programs.
How You Can Help...
Hostels contribute to the vibrant quality of life in the communities they are located in. Many individuals & businesses support the hostels with their contributions, and by offering discounts to hostellers. In doing so, they become member of the FRIENDS of Hostelling International. Other individuals donate their time as volunteers at hostels as concierges, maintenance helpers, program leaders and by helping openning and closing the seasonal hostels. We are a nonprofit organization 501( c ) ( 3 ) and all donations are tax-deductible. Corporate sponsorships and donations, are other ways to show your support for Hostelling International and its mission; we hope you find what is right for you.
